Tas of Lausanne ruled on the doping case linked to Andrea Iannone: the Aprilia rider was suspended for 4 years starting from 17 December 2019.
The judges of the Sports Arbitration Court rejected the appeal presented by Iannone against the 18-month disqualification imposed on him in March by the FIM Regulations, which had recognized a violation of the anti-doping regulations by the Abruzzo rider (presence of Drostanolone).
Instead, they accepted the appeal filed by WADA, which requested a 4-year stop, claiming that Iannone had failed to demonstrate "according to the required standard" that the origin of the prohibited substance was attributable to contamination from meat, consumed in a hotel in Sepang (Malaysia).
"Today I suffered the greatest injustice I could receive. They ripped my heart apart by separating me from my great love."
Andrea Iannone, via Instagram, commented on the 4-year stop decided by TAS for doping.
"The reasons are without logical sense and with wrong facts. For this there will be an appropriate place and time ... because I certainly won't give up" promises the MotoGP rider.
"I knew I was facing the strong powers, but I was hoping. I was hoping for intellectual honesty and the affirmation of justice - continues Iannone - In this moment I suffer as much as I could. But those who have tried to destroy my life will soon understand how much strength I have my heart inside. The strength of innocence and above all ... a clear conscience. A sentence can change events, but not man ".
