(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 12 - The story of the football player Marco Van Basten will become a TV series.

The HollandsLicht production house has bought the film rights to the bestsellerFragile, the autobiography of one of the greatest footballers of all time that tells himself openly without sparing anybody, not even himself.


    "I never thought I'd publish a book about my life, and now I'm proud of it. The fact that it will become an international series surprises me even more. I can't wait to see the final result," said the former striker. Dutch now 56 years old, at Milan between '87 and '95.


   To develop the series, Hollands Licht has partnered with actor Barry Atsma as a creative consultant.


   In Fragile, Marco van Basten tells the story of his youth, the relationship with his parents, his career - his achievements in Italy, the 1988 Champions Cup, the 1990 World Cup failure, his coaching career - his relationship with Johan Cruijff, ankle injury, financial setbacks, numerous successes and many difficult moments.


   The autobiography told by Erwin Schoon, was released on 28 November 2019 and immediately entered the bestseller list both in the Netherlands and abroad.

To date, more than 100,000 copies have been sold in the Netherlands.

The book was also published in Italy (Mondadori) and will soon be released in the United Kingdom, Spain and several other European countries.
