Curfew h24, kindergartens, schools and shops closed.
Next Tuesday in Austria the total lockdown returns, in 'March style', until 6 December.
Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced it.
Despite two weeks of 'soft' lockdown, essentially a nighttime curfew, Austria is currently the black jersey globally when it comes to the rate of spread of the coronavirus, with 831 new cases per one million inhabitants in the past 7 days.
"Do not meet anyone, every meeting is one too many", is the appeal launched by the Chancellor to the Austrians. Individuals, living alone, can indicate a 'contact person'. "None of us want a new lockdown, but it's the only way that works, as we saw in the spring," he continued. "We want to save Christmas. The stricter the lockdown, the better it will work and the sooner we can return to life at least partially normal", concluded the chancellor.
