Meatballs stuffed with empanadas, the baked version (Photo: Ayala Jenny)
As a pastry and carb lover I embrace any type of dough that can make me and my kids happy.
The dumplings originating in Argentina are filled according to South American tradition with meat, which is usually seasoned with hard-boiled egg, oregano, chopped olives and in some places even raisins.
But you can fill this wonderful dough with any topping and any shape you like, including a cheese mixture (just do not tell any Argentine).
It is very crispy when baked and almost melts in your mouth when fried.
Tip:
If you have chosen to fry the empanadas, it is mandatory to eat them as soon as they come out of the fryer.
If you want to wait with the serving my recommendation is to bake in the oven.
You will find both options in the recipe.
