(ANSA) - TOKYO, NOV 14 - Japan updates the daily record of coronavirus infections for the third consecutive day, with over 1,700 cases distributed among the large metropolitan centers, up to the north of the archipelago.
The biggest occupation is the capital Tokyo, which has reported over 300 positivity a day for four days in a row, as has not been seen since August, a dynamic that authorities anticipate could be the third wave of the pandemic.
Despite the rise in new numbers, the government's 'Go to travel' campaign continues to go ahead, introduced last July with the aim of encouraging domestic tourism, and therefore criticized for helping to spread the disease.
Among the most affected prefectures is that of Hokkaido, north of the country and a popular tourist destination, with over 200 cases for two consecutive days.
In this regard, the premier himself, Yoshihide Suga, said that the incentives will be maintained until the end of January, excluding for the moment the return of the state of emergency.
At a national level, the cases of Covid in Japan amount to 117,261 infections, and 1,900 deaths overall.
The positivity to Tokyo is about 34,500 with 41 patients in serious condition, the highest number since the end of May.
