In a "lateral thinking" demonstration in Frankfurt, the police used water cannons and batons - but not against the corona deniers, but against participants in the counter rally. The demo has now been dissolved.

Water cannons and batons: The police used robust coercive measures in the "lateral thinking" demo on Saturday afternoon in Frankfurt am Main against left-wing counter-demonstrators.

Police officers also occasionally used batons.

Officials were previously attacked, it said.

The counter-demonstrators blocked the demonstration route of the "lateral thinking" movement in the city center several times.

They stood on several streets, displaying a banner with the words "The Right to the Ground" and the symbols of the Antifa.

Police blocked roads to keep the demonstration groups away from each other.

The start of the "lateral thinker" demonstration was also delayed because several participants had not followed the hygiene rules.

During the demonstration, the minimum distance was also not observed in many places, and many participants did not wear mouth and nose protection from the start.

The police initially announced that the protest march had "been stopped again and again and the leader of the meeting asked to communicate the hygiene requirements."

Because the participants still did not comply with the conditions at the subsequent final rally on Rathenauplatz, the police finally disbanded the rally.

The police tweeted that the participants of the dissolved rally be allowed to withdraw from the central demonstration site.
