(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, NOV 14 - The floods that took place in the past few weeks in south-eastern Mexico were particularly intense in the state of Tabasco, causing pregnancy and even an invasion of crocodiles in the capital of this state, Villahermosa.

This was reported by the local newspaper ElHeraldo de Tabasco.

These reptiles, explains the newspaper, live in the rivers of the region, but the overflow of many of these, and in particular of the Río Grijalva that crosses Villahermosa, caused the appearance of crocodiles in the city streets, generating panic in the population.

Inhabitants of the city have posted videos on social networks that prove the presence of at least seven of these animals that can reach a length of three meters.

The fact is that many people have not abandoned their homes, despite the floods, and are often forced to enter the water that flows along the streets to seek food, with the risk of running into one of these reptiles.

A resident told the newspaper that the presence of crocodiles is not only in the water, but also on land, and a specimen seen in front of the entrance to the emblematic Teatro Esperanza Iris in Villahermosa is proof.
