(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 14 - An unreleased song by Ennio Morricone, a new and original Ave Maria, duets with Alison Krauss and Cecilia Bartoli: Andrea Bocelli returns to the recording scene with Believe, a record with a strong spiritual flavor with a selection of related songs from the red thread of faith.

Released on the Sugar label and co-produced by Steven Mercurio and Haydn Bendall, Believe is a collection of intimist and contemplative songs that inspired and supported Bocelli over the years, melodies that marked his childhood and adolescence in Tuscany.

"The sequence of titles outlines a courageous melange because, alongside signatures, there are songs that are not noble, making part of the most authentic and popular religious tradition in the strict sense. But these are melodies that I carry in my heart, they are the column of my childhood memories , which I associate with the face of my grandmother and the elderly of the Bocelli house when we participated in the sacred processions of my hometown in Tuscany "comments the tenor, who for this project also wore the composer's robes with his own unpublished setting of Ave Maria, specially designed for this record.

In any case, he scoffs: "I don't consider myself a composer - he underlines - but I'm a musician and sometimes melodies come to mind, with essentially complete harmonies .. Music that knocks on the door and that I gladly welcome and then free putting it in black and white".

Believe comes after the success of "Sì", the latest unreleased album which was simultaneously at the top of the US and UK charts.

On December 12, Bocelli will hold a live streaming concert from the Teatro Regiodi Parma, under the creative direction of Franco Dragone, known for his spectacular work with Cirque Du Soleil.
