In the US there is a price increase for the streaming service Netflix.
In the past, the German branch mostly followed suit.
Many companies made big losses in the Corona crisis *.
Netflix
, however, is one of the few that even increased its sales.
According to its own statement, the streaming giant was able to
gain
10 million subscribers
in the period from April to June alone
.
Good for the company, but also good for the customers?
In the US, from October
29, 2020
, subscribers will have to be prepared
for price increases instead of discounts.

Netflix: Price increases for two subscription models
“Premium”, “Standard” or “Basic”
- in the United States as well as in Germany, customers can choose between these three models.
The two more expensive ones promise a
higher resolution
and streaming on
several different devices
.
In the US, Netflix has now
increased prices in two categories
.
The "Premium" tariff increases by almost $ 2, from $ 16 to $ 17.99.
In Germany this would correspond to a price increase of around one euro.
The “standard package” is also about a dollar more expensive and now costs 13.99 dollars, or just under 12 euros.
The price for "basic" users does not change for this.
Netflix is giving the price increase to
both new and existing customers
continue.
The latter will be informed about their increasing invoice amounts in the coming weeks.
A
spokesman for the company gave the US portal "The Verge"
a
reason for the price increase
.
The aim is to continue to offer customers a larger selection of series and films in the future.
With the previous pricing model, everyone can find a tariff that fits their budget.

Netflix: German users also affected?
But what does the
price increase
mean
for German users of
the streaming service?
The last price increase was only in
April 2019
.
The cheapest “basic” model was also not affected.
Instead, the “standard” model increased from 10.00 euros to 11.99 euros and the “premium” tariff from 13.99 euros to 15.99 euros.
At that time,
Netflix Germany was based
on the American original: This had adjusted its prices three months earlier.
It is therefore
not unlikely
that the streaming service will again follow its American “big brother” this time
.
As a little consolation, many new highlights will appear again on Netflix in November 2020 - and you can still enjoy them at the usual rate.
