As a musician, Bryan Adams fills large concert halls.

But the Canadian also works as a photographer.

A selection of his work can now be seen in Munich.

  • Bryan Adams made music history with songs like "Summer of '69" and "(Everything I do) I do it for You".

  • The Canadian has already received several awards as a photo artist.

  • His photographic works can now be seen in the exhibition "Exposed" in Munich.

Aging rock stars often find themselves in the potentially risky situation of expressing their creativity in other creative areas due to the fateful concatenation of increasing leisure time and decreasing interest in the music business.

Some press wine (Sting) or distill whiskey (Dylan) and some act as their own cover bands (Queen).

Others star in films (Meatloaf) or become restorers of their own musical legacy (Page).

Hundreds of people have discovered painting for themselves - or in individual cases the forging of garden gates from scrap metal (again Dylan).

Not always everything turned out equally well, to put it that way.

Bryan Adams started taking photos as a teenager

With the Canadian bard Bryan Adams, it would be unfair to dismiss the passion for photography as a gimmick of a bored millionaire.

On the one hand, Adams has been working with the camera since his teenage days, and on the other hand he has proven several times that he knows how to capture people on film.

His work has received regular awards.

Anyone who wants to check whether they are right can now do so in the Leica Gallery in Munich.

The "Exposed" exhibition shows photos of Adams in large original prints, and you can quickly see that the now 61-year-old has a good eye and a recognizable style.

Adam's subjects are often the beautiful and famous from film and music, which is not surprising, because you run into each other more often.

Adams uses the privilege of knowing legends like Mick Jagger and Ben Kingsley personally for his work.

Because he's not just any photographer, but a colleague who knows how strange it is to have to constantly pose for pictures, he has a special approach to the stars.

The melancholy expression of the Hollywood wreck Mickey Rourke does not seem staged, and Amy Winehouse's unfathomable gaze directly into the lens does not appear to be staged.

Of course, professionals like Pink or Sean Penn stage themselves skilfully without revealing anything.

But every now and then you can discover amazing portraits, such as the photo in which the eternal model nymph Kate Moss actually looks like a woman.

Bryan Adams also portrayed the Queen

The masterpiece, however, is the picture in which a friendly elderly lady is smiling into the lens next to rubber boots that are obviously worn in the garden.

Completely unaffected.

A woman who is feeling very comfortable right now.

It is Elizabeth II, the Queen of England.

Ardent monarchists or Bryan Adams fans can purchase the photo for a five-figure sum.

There are also a few nudes a little cheaper, which are aesthetically pleasing, but not terribly original.

Information about the exhibition:

"Exposed" can be seen until January 31, 2021 in the Munich Leica Gallery, Maffeistraße 4;
