The Association of Municipal Doctors of the City of Buenos Aires began a
24-hour
strike
on
Tuesday
with mobilization in rejection of the salary offer of the Buenos Aires Government and in demand of a 42 percent increase.
From the Executive they argued that in the middle of the pandemic they suffered
"a blow to the budget
.
"
The union organization rejected the 15 percent in three sections offered by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta's Executive and demanded
"a minimum of 42 percent of recomposition
.
"
"The official offer at the joint table was insufficient. There was no other alternative than the call for a strike, but
the guards
will
remain
. It will be a union action to reaffirm the need for a fair recognition of medical work in the emergency," said a Press release.
For the union, municipal doctors
"are essential workers and, therefore, must be paid as essential"
, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
In October, nurses protested in front of the National Congress for better working conditions.

City doctors asserted that they did not receive "a single peso of salary improvement" so far this year and denounced that the Buenos Aires government "never listens" to their claim.
The union and medical representative, Enrique Castelli, affirmed that a minimum improvement of 42 percent is imposed and retroactive to April, as well as the payment of the salary in a remunerative way, because this would coincide with the interannual inflation of one year.
If there are no answers,
the professionals will then call another strike of 24, 48 or 72 hours
or for an indefinite period until "the improvement is granted."
The City's response came this Tuesday.
In a press conference, the Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, indicated that the budget suffered "a blow" this year, in reference to the reduction of co-participation, and said that they will make the greatest possible effort. "
"We understand perfectly well that after so much pain all health workers request an improvement in working conditions. There is no difference between the views in this regard," the official began.
Then, he added: "The Buenos Aires budget has suffered a huge blow this year and we are going to make the best possible effort to offer workers the best option available to us."
