US singer Lana Del Rey has rejected criticism of a protective mask she was wearing.
At the beginning of October, the 35-year-old published a video that she showed during an autograph session in a bookstore in Los Angeles.
The occasion was the publication of her new book: a volume of poetry entitled "Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass".
While everyone present and her team followed the AHA rules, the musician wore a glittering, wide-meshed net mask under which her face could be seen.
Therefore, there was criticism from fans.
SPIEGEL columnist Samira El Ouassil commented at the time: “She did not explain whether she was wearing another, transparent, actually protective material underneath.
But the appearance of a health-endangering vanity has meanwhile taken on a life of its own anyway.
The fact that Del Rey took photos head-to-head with a number of fans did not improve the impression of negligence. "
Now the singer defended the extravagant mouth and nose protection on Twitter: "The mask had plastic on the inside," she wrote and shared an article on the controversy.
“The same goes for all the masks in my video.
I'm fortunate to have a team of people who can do it. "
But even this explanation did not seem to convince some fans.
Among other things, the question of how Del Rey could breathe under the plastic layer was raised in comments under her tweet.
