since that fatal morning in which her ex-husband shot her in the house they shared in Morón.
They also underwent
65 operations
and Romina Meneghini (37) is still at risk of having her leg amputated.

since the pilot Esteban Piccinin (44) was sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison for the attempted femicide so that his capture can be ordered.
News of
Piccinin's
arrest
broke out on
Thursday.
This was reported by Romina's lawyer, Raquel Hermida Leyenda.
The same Oral Criminal Court N ° 4 of Morón that sentenced him ordered his arrest by
rejecting
the defense's request to declare the
prescription
of the sentence filed in the 2014 trial.

"Once the arrest has been made, the convicted person must be immediately
housed in the provincial penitentiary system
", the ruling read and added: "The calculation of the sentence must be carried out."
The court order told the Buenos Aires Police to look for the Carretera Tourism pilot at his home in Ituzaingó or at his work, in Morón.
But according to Hermida Leyenda told the

was detained at the Del Sol clinic
where he was admitted after learning of the judicial decision.
His destination will be the Melchor Romero prison.
"I still have not fallen, my whole body is shaking. The truth is that I cannot believe it,
after seven years of struggle I am happy
, it is a mixture of sensations, a social recognition, which was what I needed to close this stage", they were Romina's words to the national news agency.
On social networks, Romina Meneghini asked that Esteban Piccinin serve a sentence of 5 and a half years in prison.
"They did everything possible to stretch it, for a long time and the truth is that I was already resigned, it is like
one is losing faith because Justice is slow
, but I received great professional and psychological support from Raquel in these last instances," Romina stressed .
For the victim, "although the years they gave him are few", the Court ruling "needed him for all the damage he caused and it was time for him to begin to comply."
The case
On October 15, 2013, after three years of marriage and a month apart,
Piccinin summoned Romina at her home,
Virrey Liniers 457, in Villa Sarmiento, Morón.
It was there that he
shot her with a 16-gauge double barrel shotgun
and the shot hit the former model and promoter's left thigh: the projectile fractured her femur and caused a 17-centimeter wound that put her life at risk.
It was her ex who took her to the hospital.

Romina spent
a year in the hospital
, during which time she suffered
two cardiac arrests
.
From the attack until today, she underwent
65 operations
and still could not regain mobility and strength in her leg.

I still need surgeries
, I will have sequels for life but due to the pandemic, pending operations such as changing the total knee were stopped, I lost total mobility of the Achilles tendon, I cannot walk normally," he said Romina.
In 2014, Piccinin was sentenced to
5 and a half years in prison
by
the Oral Criminal Court No. 4 of Morón
for "illegal possession of a weapon of war and serious injuries qualified by the connection and the use of a firearm."
In 2010, Piccinin and Meneghini got married.
In 2013, he shot her.
In 2014, he was convicted.
And in 2020, they called for his arrest.
Piccinin
appealed the sentence during these 7 years
and, as it was not firm, he spent all this time in freedom until the Justice finally denied him his last resort: the prescription of the sentence.
And this Thursday his arrest was ordered.
