SPIEGEL

: Ms. Ackermann, the police are proud of their large-scale operation in the Berlin clan milieu and even hinted at a breakthrough in investigating the theft in the Green Vault.

Would you go that far?

Ackermann

: Absolutely.

So far, many motifs were conceivable, cultural objects are stolen for a wide variety of reasons.

Now we can - with reservation of the suspicion - make a limitation.

This result - the arrests, the securing of objects - seems to me to be a giant step, and it won't be the last.

Perhaps we will really soon know more about the whereabouts of the jewels.

SPIEGEL

: The break-in took place almost exactly a year ago.

What did you do to prevent it from happening again?

Ackermann

: We have adapted our security system at all levels, an international commission of experts has carried out an assessment - and has certified that what happened last year cannot happen again.
