The trial of the former pop star R. Kelly, which has already been postponed several times in the corona pandemic, is now set to start in New York in April 2021.
A jury will be selected from mid-March and the trial is provisionally scheduled to start on April 7, the public prosecutor in the Brooklyn district of New York announced.
The singer has been in custody in Chicago since last summer and has been charged with child abuse, among other things.
Kelly protested his innocence and pleaded not guilty several times.
Long indictments have been filed against Kelly in Chicago and Minnesota.
In Chicago, Kelly is accused of producing child pornography.
The processes had been postponed in the corona crisis.
Kelly had asked for early release several times because of the pandemic, but failed each time.
In June, the house of a witness against Kelly was set on fire.
Using data from the online search engine Google, the authorities subsequently arrested three men, including Kelly's former press spokesman.
