Write author rather than author because this pretty word from the French language, banned by the Academy in the 17th century, belongs to our heritage.

Do not call "a" minister by her first name while using the surname to designate "a" minister.

Never forget that a woman does not "get" raped, but suffers an assault ... Finally, remember that a feminicide is never a marital drama.

Give the floor to the experts and no longer just to the experts.

“Le Parisien” has established an equality charter so that women are represented in its columns and in its teams at the same level as men.

Accessible in free access on its site, this text sets out the fundamental laws that the editorial staff and management undertake to respect in order to achieve this objective.

The charter addresses three aspects: management, editorial and diversity.

Barely opened, the work of parity has indeed led the editorial staff to invest in this last issue.

The reflection on parity has become that of equality.

It is not a question of renewing the writing of the “Parisien” overnight to meet new criteria, but of creating the conditions for change.

"Le Parisien", by its dual national and regional identity, is undoubtedly one of the media which gives the most voice to its readers, women, men, sores of the capital, suburbanites, shopkeepers, nurses ( e) s, executives, employees, students… without distinction, whatever their sex, their origin, the color of their skin.

“Le Parisien” is a reflection of society.

This is its strength and, paradoxically, a weakness in the area of parity.

France has more decision-makers than decision-makers among the political class, the economic world.

How many of them run a large union, a CAC 40 group, a government ministry?

The argument of the mirror effect is no longer opposable to a groundswell which crosses the whole world and calls for giving their place to women.

Set specific goals each year

In April 2020, to draw up this charter, the management brought together a group of around fifteen people, men and women, representing the editorial staff (head of department, reporter, editor, management) the human resources and general management department .

The debates were lively.

How to respect parity in a world that is not?

The text was presented to the entire editorial staff at the beginning of September.

This charter is just the start.

It is now for "Le Parisien" to set specific objectives each year.

He must answer more or less simple questions.

How to assess the place of experts?

How to take into account the specificities of the sections?

Isn't it easier to find interlocutors on social issues than among the bosses of the CAC 40?

How to have as many women as men in management positions?

Why do the numerous and talented editors of the “Parisien” apply less than their male colleagues for management positions?

The original group that drew up the charter will establish the roadmap for 2021. It will evolve each year to involve new participants in this process.

“Le Parisien” was inspired by the work in 2018 by the Swiss newspaper “le Temps”, which adopted a charter at the start of 2020, but also from the managerial experiences of AFP and the major Anglo-Saxon media like the “Financial Times” or Bloomberg… In the area of parity, Sophie Gourmelen, the managing director, has publicly set a five-year course to achieve perfect parity in management teams.

A new deputy director is to join “Le Parisien” at the start of 2021. As part of the conquest of new subscribers, the editorial staff is undergoing a profound reorganization.

It has just appointed 24 journalists to very attractive positions (they had triggered 85 applications), 12 are women.

A good start.
