Lockdown winners: Search queries for Lidl, DHL & Rewe are increasing
While the stricter corona rules in the catering and event industry ensure sleepless nights, they in turn ensure full coffers in other areas.
As the job portal Indeed has found, the interest of job seekers for some employers has increased significantly.
In particular, companies from the
food retail
sector
such as Lidl, Rewe and Edeka
have significantly increased their search queries over the last 14 days, as the overview shows:
1. Lidl 28%
2. DHL 22%
3. Rewe 17%
4. Deutsche Post 15%
5.Edeka 14%
6. Bundeswehr 5%
7. Police 4%
8. Amazon 3%
The reason: According to Indeed, many workers
perceive
the grocery trade as a
“safe haven”
.
"In view of the fact that supermarkets and discounters have so far been
least affected by the restrictions
, this focus on job seekers also makes sense," says Dr.
Annina Hering from the Indeed Hiring Lab.
“Many companies in this area
are actually still looking for new staff
and withdrawing talent from other sectors that are not doing so well.
Job seekers follow the increasing demand here to a certain extent, ”says the expert.

Online trading is also becoming increasingly interesting for job seekers
The fact that
online retail
benefits particularly from the corona lockdown is also shown by the interest of job seekers for companies such as Amazon, DHL and Deutsche Post.
The upcoming Christmas business is all the more intensifying the increased demand for jobs at these companies.
A spokesman for Deutsche Post recently announced that it would be
hiring 10,000 new employees
by the
end of the year in
order to be able to cope with the Christmas
business
.
"It is only logical that job seekers focus on the areas in which they think they have the greatest opportunities," says Hering.
In fact, the number of job postings in the grocery and e-commerce sectors rose slightly in the first two weeks of November.
In the retail sector, job offers on Indeed increased by 1.3%.
Also in warehousing, an important service area for online trading, job vacancies rose by 2.3%.
