(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 20 - ANSA) - TURIN, NOV 20 - One year and eight months of imprisonment is the sentence requested by the public minister Vincenzo Pacileo for the mayor of Turin, ChiaraAppendino, at the trial for the facts of Piazza San Carlo.
The hearing is held in the main hall of the courthouse with an abbreviated rite.
The charges brought by the magistrate against the mayor and 4 other defendants are of disaster, injury and manslaughter.
The trial refers to what happened on 3 June 2017 in Piazza San Carlo, in Turin, during the screening of the Champions League final on the maxi screen.
A series of panic attacks in the crowd resulted in over 1,500 injuries and, later, the deaths of two women.
The prosecutor asked for 3 years and 6 months for Enrico Bertoletti, a professional who takes care of a project on behalf of the organizers of the evening;
one year and seven months for Maurizio Montagnese, manager of the Turin agency;
one year and eight months for the then commissioner AngeloSanna;
2 years for the former chief of staff of the municipality, Paolo Giordana.
