Covid-19 in France: 215 deaths and nearly 13,000 positive cases in 24 hours

This Sunday evening again, the indicators tend to prove the thesis of a slight decrease in the circulation of Covid-19 in France.

According to Public Health France, the number of patients admitted to intensive care continues to drop.

And this for the sixth consecutive day.

171 new patients were admitted in 24 hours, against 220 the day before and 270 seven days ago.

In total, there are 4491 severe cases, against 4493 on Saturday and 4896 last Sunday.

However, it should be noted that despite the drop in new hospitalizations, 31,522 hospital beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients this Sunday evening.

That's 157 more than the day before.

The health authorities also record 215 additional deaths in hospital due to Covid-19, against 276 the day before and 302 a week ago.

In total, 48,732 people have died from Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic in France, including 33,445 in hospitals.

Twice fewer positive cases than last Sunday

The number of contaminations recorded is also decreasing: 13,157 positive cases have been detected in the last 24 hours, including 1,328 via antigenic tests.

This is two times less than last Saturday (27,228).

In line with this, the test positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) continues to drop: 14% on Saturday against 14.8% the day before.
