The death of Udo Walz caused consternation and sadness across Germany.

The farewell was apparently particularly hard for the husband of the star hairdresser: Carsten Thamm-Walz was only able to say goodbye to his husband from a distance.

"I saw Udo five days ago via tablet," he told the "Bild" newspaper and "BZ".

“That's what they do in the hospitals now with people who want to say goodbye and are no longer allowed to come.

It was awful."

The Berlin celebrity hairdresser Udo Walz died on Friday at the age of 76.

He had previously been put into an artificial coma after a diabetes shock.

According to his own statements, Thamm-Walz could not visit him in the hospital because he was in corona quarantine because of a risky contact.

The couple had been together for decades and had been married since 2008.

Walz's salons should continue to exist, as Thamm-Walz said: “Of course I want to keep my jobs for the benefit of my employees.

That would also be in Udo's sense. «His husband wanted his ashes to be blown over a meadow or to be buried anonymously under a tree.

"I'll decide that." Walz will definitely be buried in Berlin, but: "Udo didn't want a permanent grave in a cemetery."

Since he knew that a lot of people wanted to say goodbye, he thought that he would have a big party next year on Walz's 77th birthday, to which he would invite all his friends.

"Then everyone can say goodbye to Udo," said Thamm-Walz.

"I hope that will work again in July."
