A case of animal abuse caused shock and outrage in the province of Mendoza.
A teacher was recorded when she kept her dog chained to the car, which she dragged for seven blocks.
She was charged and the animal was taken from her.
The images of the aberrant event, which occurred last Thursday in the city of
Tunuyán
, 83 km south of the capital, were viralized in the last hours by witnesses who captured the scene with their cell phones.
According to police sources reported to the local newspaper
Los Andes
, the 43-year-old woman
tied her black Labrador to the car
, drove at about 60 kilometers per hour and dragged her pet about seven blocks through the
La Sidrera
neighborhood
.
The woman drove about seven blocks at about 43 miles per hour with the dog on a leash.
At that time, some residents of the area who alerted the situation blocked her way when she was circulating on Derqui street at 300 aboard a Peugeot 206 and forced her to stop the march.
Members of the protectionist NGO SOS Patitas en la Calle appeared to file a complaint at the Public Prosecutor's Office, which a neighbor had arrived minutes before to give notice.
Finally, the accused, identified as
Natalia Franco
, was transferred to Police Station 15 and charged within the framework of Law 14,346 on "Animal Abuse", which establishes a penalty of fifteen days to one year in prison.
The dog, named Felipe, lost a lot of blood and was referred to a shelter.
The Tunuyán prosecutor, Jorge Quiroga, also ordered that the animal be removed so that it could
receive care at a shelter
in the area.
So far, the woman had not testified.
Some versions maintain that he would have said that he had to take him to a relative's house but could not put him in the car or that he was taking him home.
The dog, named Felipe, suffered
injuries to all four legs
and severe blood loss, which was recorded in the images.
The unfortunate episode recalled another similar one that occurred in September last year, when a man tied a dog to his truck and dragged it to death, prompting marches across the country to demand justice.
The animal's name was Rubio and it lived in Mar del Tuyú.
They had adopted him at a gas station.
In social networks, the hashtag
"#justiciapararubio"
was created
and different personalities from the media such as Facundo Arana and Verónica Llinás joined the claim.
