The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT)

banned another brand of ethyl alcohol

, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The agency issued the notice this Tuesday in the Official Gazette.

In this way, it prohibited the use, commercialization and distribution throughout Argentina of the product "

Etalcohol

.

Ethyl alcohol 96% vol

. Medicinal use. Ind. Argentina. 500 ml. RNPA N ° 04033369. RNE Nº 04033300. Elaborated and fractionated by Argencol SA ".

The entity explained that the product has problems in its records.

Since last March, with the arrival of Covid-19 in Argentina, the demand for ethyl alcohol, gel alcohol and disinfectants has grown.

Before the first price increases, the Government froze the values of sale to the public.

And, in addition, the ANMAT put its eye on the offer of this type of products.

For this reason, in recent months the marketing of various brands of alcohol was banned.

The last warning in this regard had been on November 12.

This Tuesday, however, he added another mark to the list of prohibitions.

Following a complaint from a buyer, ANMAT began inquiries about the product "Etalcohol", whose

product registration and establishment

numbers

are non-existent

in official databases.

In addition, it was detected that the Argencol firm is not authorized to fractionate medicinal alcohol.

Therefore, the authorities ruled that it is "a product for which the actual origin and processing conditions are unknown."

As a consequence, they added, "it is dangerous for the health of the patients to whom it is administered, and its quality, safety and efficacy cannot be guaranteed."
