In October 2020 the German series “Barbarians” started.
As Netflix announced, the new release was a complete success because it set a record.
At first glance,
“Barbarians”
seems to be
a copy of “Vikings” * or “The Last Kingdom”.
However, anyone who has taken a closer look at German production will have noticed the differences.
The series takes place in a completely different time and does not address Viking conflicts.
Instead, the conflicts between the
Romans and the Germans
in the year 9 AD are in the foreground.
The plot, the costumes and the entire serial implementation seem to have impressed countless Netflix users.
The historical drama stayed in the
top 10 of the streaming service for
several weeks
.
A second season has also been confirmed.
As
Netflix
recently revealed,
"Barbarians"
even set a new record.
"Barbarians" on Netflix: Series sets a special record

did not only appear in Germany.
Netflix
has released the series simultaneously in several countries around the world - with great success.
As the streaming service announced on Twitter,
37 million households
are said to have seen
the production within the first four weeks of its release.
That's
the highest number any non-English-speaking Netflix series has ever achieved
.
* 37 million households worldwide switched on “barbarians” in the first four weeks.
That's a new record for a non-English Netflix series.

Accordingly, it makes sense that the streaming service confirmed a
second season
very quickly.
In many cases, it takes several months
for
Netflix to make
a decision for or against a sequel publicly.
Fans of series such as "Cursed - Die Chosen" or "La Révolution", for example, are still waiting for news on possible 2nd seasons.
And what about other productions that came out on
Netflix
in
2020
?
We have summarized in one article which innovations will be discontinued or continued.
“Barbarians” is about the battle in the Teutoburg Forest - everything you should know about it
So far, not all facts about the battle in the Teutoburg Forest have been clarified.
However, the ancient historian Reinhard Wolters has dealt scientifically more closely with the topic and presents his findings in the book "The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest: Arminius, Varus and Roman Germania" (commercial link).

Second Season of "Barbarians": When will it start on Netflix?
Although
Netflix has confirmed
a
second season of "Barbarians"
, it is not yet known when it will be released.
Should filming start soon and be completed in spring or summer 2021, the sequel could go online in a year.
Historical productions are usually particularly elaborate, which is why it is possible that
Netflix
will not publish them until 2022 at the earliest.
