Special regulation for telephone sick leave has proven itself
The special regulation for telephone sick leave was introduced for the first time
from March to the end of May 2020
and had
noticeably relieved doctor's practices
in the first high phase of Corona
.
The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians therefore recently advocated reintroducing the regulation in view of the increasing number of corona infections in autumn and winter.
Sick leave by phone no longer possible since May 2020
Update from June 2, 2020

According to a decision of the "Federal Joint Committee of Doctors, Clinics and Health Insurance Companies",
a visit to a doctor is necessary again from June 1 for a sick leave

The end of the special regulation due to the Corona crisis is in line with the current assessment of the risk situation, said the chairman of the committee, Hecken accordingly.
The German Association of General Practitioners, however, had asked for the special regulation to be extended at least until the end of June.

Survey: So many employees took sick leave by phone
News from May 5, 2020
: A
survey
showed that four out of ten sick employees have been on sick leave by telephone since the beginning of March.
According to the attending physician, 43 percent of them were suspected of being infected with the coronavirus.
This is shown by a current Forsa survey on behalf of DAK-Gesundheit of more than 2,000 employees.
The survey also shows that the vast majority of those questioned would have gone to a doctor's practice if they had not been able to take sick leave by telephone.

According to the survey, 19 percent of employees between 18 and 65 years of age have
reported incapable of work to their employer
since March 9th - i.e. after the introduction of the
telephone sick leave
- as the health insurance company continues to report.
There were therefore no major differences between men and women or individual age groups in terms of sick leave.
39 percent of the employees who presented the so-called
yellow note
used the telephone sick leave.
88 percent of the sick would have visited the doctor's office if the new regulation had not existed, the message continues.

It would be sensible to keep the telephone sick leave until the end of June, said DAK board member Andreas Strom.
The data had shown that employees deal responsibly with the new regulation and that the risk of infection in the practices is reduced as a result.
"We are thus supporting the demands of the General Practitioners' Association and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians to extend sick leave by telephone."
