Another body part was discovered during the investigation into a possible case of cannibalism in Berlin.

The Berlin public prosecutor announced that investigators had found it on Monday afternoon in the Pankow district.

Forensic and forensic examinations had shown that the find was the remains of the missing 44-year-old.

The crime came to light after bone fragments were found in a forest in Berlin-Buch over two weeks ago.

The 44-year-old left his shared apartment shortly before midnight on September 5 and initially disappeared without a trace.

Investigations by the homicide commission and the public prosecutor's office, in which, among other things, people and corpse detection dogs were used, later led to the 41-year-old from Berlin-Pankow.

The case of the »Cannibal von Rotenburg« from the year 2000 became known as a spectacular crime in Germany.

The perpetrator had met his future victim through a personal ad in an Internet forum.

The Frankfurt Regional Court sentenced the murderer to life imprisonment in 2006.
