On July 12, 1989, walkers found the bodies of a married couple in the state forest of Göhrde in Lower Saxony. While the police are investigating the site, another couple dies just 800 meters away. The murder cases have not yet been fully resolved. The alleged perpetrator is the cemetery gardener Kurt-Werner Wichmann, who later committed suicide while in custody.
