On July 12, 1989, walkers found the bodies of a married couple in the state forest of Göhrde in Lower Saxony.

While the police are investigating the site, another couple dies just 800 meters away.

The murder cases have not yet been fully resolved.

The alleged perpetrator is the cemetery gardener Kurt-Werner Wichmann, who later committed suicide while in custody.

He is also believed to have murdered the wife of an entrepreneur, who has been missing since 1989.

It wasn't until more than a quarter of a century later that the police discovered a trail of blood with their DNA on a handcuff from Wichmann's possession.

In 2017 her brother Wolfgang Sielaff, the former head of the Hamburg State Criminal Police Office (LKA), found his sister's body on Wichmann's property with a private team of investigators.
