Once again, the French have settled en masse in front of their television screens to follow the speech of the President of the Republic.
Tuesday evening, Emmanuel Macron was watched by a total of 29.1 million viewers on the various channels which broadcast his intervention, according to data from Médiamétrie published Wednesday morning.
This represents an audience share of 87.4%.
In other words, the head of state attracted the vast majority of French people who were between 8 p.m. and 8:26 p.m. in front of television.
This is hardly a surprise.
As the end of the year holidays approach, the French were impatient to know whether the Head of State would largely loosen the stranglehold on containment or not, as the country crossed the threshold of 50,000 deaths due to Covid- 19.

It is on TF1 that Emmanuel Macron's intervention brought together the most fellow citizens.
The channel gathered 11.33 million viewers, or 34% of the audience.
France 2, for its part, totaled 10 million, or 30% of the public.
M6 comes in third position.
The channel captured 3.5 million people, or 10% of the audience.
TMC, owned by the TF1 group, attracted 1.5 million viewers.
They were also 184,000 on Canal +.
Between them, the news channels BFMTV, LCI, CNews and Franceinfo have garnered around 2.4 million viewers.
But we will have to wait until the end of the morning to have precise details of the audiences for each channel.
Even if it displays a very high audience level, this new intervention by Emmanuel Macron was not the most followed.
His speech of Monday, April 13 had gathered 36.7 million viewers.
