COVID-19: Doctor Gives Five Tips For Your Thanksgiving Dinner

2020-11-26T10:14:31.650Z

Dr. Felipe Lobelo shares five tips so that you can make your Thanksgiving dinner without risking COVID-19 infection. Take note!

Thanksgiving is coming up and many people across the country have already started planning their gatherings.

But, because the number of cases by coronavirus is increasing, Dr.

Felipe Lobelo

shares five tips to celebrate this date without risk of contagion.

1. Do not meet with people who do not live with you.

Although it is normal that you want to live with all your loved ones, currently the activity of the virus is very high, especially when we gather to eat in closed spaces.

Therefore, the expert advises only celebrate with the people who live in your home.

"For example, at my house I am only going to have a meeting with the people who live there, my nuclear family and, the people who are outside, we are going to avoid them. It is not a risk that I want to take, I do not want to bring the virus to my house and probably make people in my family sick, "he explained.

2. Do not trust negative tests for COVID-19.

Some people have made the decision to get tested for COVID-19 and, if they are negative, go to the celebration.

However, Lobelo cautions that this is not an effective strategy for several reasons.

"We've already seen it. For example, the president and people in the White House were tested every day and even got infected, why? Because a negative test does not mean immunity. A negative test is simply not being able at that time detect the virus, but the virus can be in the body or infect other people even a few days later, "he detailed.

Under this premise, the doctor points out that, if you have not been in quarantine in the 14 days prior to Thanksgiving, do not go to meetings in other houses "because you could probably carry that virus and cause other people to get sick."

3. Encourage guests to bring their own food and drinks.

This with the intention of avoiding interaction between your family members as much as possible.

4. Wear a mask when preparing or serving food.

That is, use it at all times, even when you are not putting a bite in your mouth.

In addition to this, Lobelo suggests that it be a single person who handles the food and that there are not several food containers where other people can be touching things, but that it be a single member who is in charge.

5. All attendees should consider where to store their mask while eating and drinking.

It carries a case that is exclusively intended to store your mask.

In this way, you will avoid contaminating it and, above all, you will protect the health of your family.

Put these tips into practice and enjoy this celebration without risking contagion.
