Still scared, content and waiting for a new family.

So are the

 six-year-old

African twins

who were adopted in 2019 by a couple who abandoned them just over a year later at a Bahía Blanca police station.

The dissemination of the case generated as much indignation and pain as expressions of solidarity and rapprochement with the children.

Since the weekend, the children spend their days in a shelter that is part of the network of the Local Childhood Service of the Bahia Municipality.

There they live with other children and adolescents without a family who are

waiting for a permanent home

, which they will be able to access when Justice resolves their situations.

On Tuesday of last week, a man appeared at the Bahia Women's Police Station and gave "personal reasons" for abandoning the custody of the children.

The legality of the adoption that linked the boys to that man and his partner is being

investigated by the Justice

.

The twins are only known to have entered the country together in August last year from Guinea Bissau, a coastal country in West Africa.

"Did he just leave them and go?"

Clarín

asked

a source from the Bahia branch.

"That's right," replied the spokeswoman.

He described that the man, when he arrived at the unit located in the downtown area of the city, was holding a boy in each arm.

The process took just a few minutes.

"As soon as the father showed up with the children, we summoned municipal Childhood personnel and they did the shelter measure," explained a source from the Superintendency of Gender that has the Police Station, who excused himself from providing more details for the reservation that governs the treatment by the press of data related to minors.

The couple spent a week with the children in one of the homes of Casa Emanuel in Guinea Bissau.

However, other witnesses described the image as surprising.

"Beyond the fact that scenes like these are not new to us, it is a special case, due to the distant origin that children have," they commented near the dependency.

They also said that both minors

waited for several hours

for the return of their guardian.

The situation was revealed this Tuesday through a press release from the Bahía Blanca Attorney General's Office.

"The man, who would turn out to be the adoptive father of the minors, referred to personal reasons that make it difficult for them to

bond and sustain family life,

" detailed the note on the arguments that ER (35 years old) gave when he got rid of the twins.

He added that together with his wife, NP (42 years old) they had adopted them in August 2019 in Guinea Bissau, after having some previous meetings through video calls.

Before they all came together, they spent a week living together in one of the homes run by Casa Emanuel in the African country.

In Argentina, the couple, who have an eleven-year-old daughter, lived with the twins until last February in a

private neighborhood

located between Bahía Blanca and Punta Alta.

The boys attended a nearby school and played basketball.

On social networks, some photos of the family were published.

The woman is dedicated to photography and runs a business linked to the sale of tea, while her partner appears as a representative of a franchise linked to the dissemination and sale of

ecological bags

.

The family moved to San Martín de los Andres in June of this year.

At the beginning of this year, before the pandemic, the family settled in San Martín de los Andes.

“All father's days are different, but this one is very particular.

We chose to start

a new life

far from our affections, going through a particular situation and with 2 children of the heart joining our family, "ER wrote on social networks last June.

Last week, the man traveled from the city of Neuquén with the African brothers and left them at the Bahia section.

With the rapid repercussion of the case, the

indignation

grew in social networks, where photos of the couple and the children were disseminated.

“The kids played basketball in Zorros.

They say they seemed like a

perfect family

... Pure appearance, "wrote a Facebook user from Neuquén.

"I saw them in the neighborhood walking ... It seemed so nice to see them ... It turns out that they ended up being one ... of a person," wrote another, who described the couple's behavior with an emoji.

In the home where they are staying and in the local Childhood and Family service of the Municipality, they revealed that several people were interested in the situation of the minors.

Some

offered to adopt them

and others, to collaborate in whatever was necessary.

Meanwhile, the Justice of Bahía Blanca seeks to determine

how the twins entered the country

.

"We are waiting for the required reports to decide if it is a provincial or federal case," they said from the Functional Unit of Judicial Instruction 8 of Bahía Blanca.

The prosecution, headed by Marcelo Romero Jardín, received the complaint from the Bahia Women's Police Station.

It evaluates both the possible commission of the crime of

non

-

compliance with the duties of assistance

, as well as a possible fraud to the Migration Law.

As it transpired, there would be no registration of the boys' entry into the country, who

would not have their documentation in order

.

If the access was legal, it should be recorded in the database of the National Directorate of Migration.

“Another situation is related to the quality of the permanence of the minors;

if as tourists or with a nationality procedure from their Argentine parents ”, they explained from the agency.
