Despite the persistently high number of corona infections in Germany, the situation in schools is still relatively relaxed according to current data from the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK).
However, there has been a slight increase in the number of closed or restricted schools.
In addition, more students are affected by quarantine or their corona test was positive.
The number of teachers is falling.
The overview:
Schools:
Of the around 30,000 schools surveyed in the country,
118 were closed
at the end of last week
- 12 more than in the previous week.
There were
limited
presence operations
at
3,702 schools
.
There, for example, individual classes or study groups were taking part in so-called distance lessons, i.e. at home.
In the previous week there were 3,320 schools.
If there are suspected cases of infection or corona, individual students or classes and years are usually sent into quarantine.
Pupils:
Of the more than 10 million students in Germany,
199,932 were in quarantine
at the end of last week
(previous week: 190,937).
20,185 schoolchildren had
a
positive Corona test
(previous week: 19,364).
Teachers:
There were
3,169 corona cases among
the almost 900,000 teachers
(previous week: 3,219)
11,598 teachers were in quarantine
(previous week: 12,120).
The Conference of Ministers of Education announced that it would in future report once a week on the nationwide status.
So far it has been difficult to get an exact overall picture of the situation because the data was collected differently in the federal states and was not recorded centrally.
The figures are now regularly compiled by the KMK, as far as the Länder transmit them.
Not all of them provide specific quarantine numbers for students or numbers for schools that are in restricted operation.
The Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE) praised that it was positive that the KMK was now collecting data on a regular basis.
However, the chairman Udo Beckmann warned: "These numbers do not provide any reason to downplay the legitimate fears of parents, pupils and teachers." It is a considerable number, "which must not be consistently marginalized."
The values from the federal states showed an extreme range.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 5 percent of schools are affected, in Berlin 39 percent, in Bremen 36, in Saarland 23 and in North Rhine-Westphalia 20 percent.
