A passer-by found a lower leg bone by the side of the road near Cologne - the police were investigating a suspected murder. Now the matter has been cleared up, in any case there is no crime.

A human bone found by chance near Cologne occupied the homicide squad for days.

Now the investigators have announced that there is no crime.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old found a lower leg bone in Berzdorf, a district of Wesseling.

The bone was at the edge of a path.

Since an act of violence could not be ruled out, a homicide squad was set up.

According to the investigation, it is an amputation.

A hospital handed over the lower leg to a specialist company that was supposed to take the bone to a disposal facility near the site.

It is unclear how the lower leg got to the site and who is responsible for it.

In any case, the investigators ruled out a violent crime.
