Seventeen products worth confining yourself to

2020-11-28T02:55:08.897Z

Spending a week at home is not something very appetizing, but if you had to confine yourself with an edible or drinkable product, which one would you choose? Several experts confess to us the culinary weaknesses for which they would lock themselves up.

God or Illa do not allow us to be confined again, go ahead.

But there are people who would not mind spending a few weeks in home provisional prison for that cheese, wine or preserve of their loves.

"May days of tracksuits and the smell of closed come to me, I have 20 boxes of milled sardines that take away the

feeling

", some might say.

Because we all have our culinary weakness for which, if necessary, we would go out to applaud every afternoon on the balcony without really knowing why.

In El Comidista we have asked several experts in gastronomy about those edible or drinkable foods for which they would be locked up longer than a Carthusian monk with agoraphobia.

The gourmets consulted, all knowledgeable about swallowing and drinking, have chosen a total of 17 branded products.

A selection that, like them, would make any confinement due to pandemic, alien invasion or Hitler resurrection more bearable (it's 2020, you never know).

Whatever happens, here you have them for whenever you want:

DRINKING KIT

Spanish wines

The gastronomic journalist Pascual Drake is clear that it would be worth confining himself if he had a good wine reserve at home: "Never before has it been so easy to have such a variety of wines directly from Spanish wineries. That is why I no longer get one pandemic -as it already happened to me in that execrable month of March in which some of us had to resort to smuggling- without my without my Le Naturel (Vintae), Laya (Bodegas Juan Gil), Nosso (Bodegas Menade), Madremía (Bodegas Divina Proportción ), or the godello of Godelia ".

Vermouth Ventura 27, by Bodegas Dimobe

“Another confinement without vermouth doesn't catch me.

If I can't take it at the Baster or El Perro Chico, let it be at home ”, says Lakshmi Aguirre, gastronomic journalist and professor of the master's degree The Foodie Studies.

And of course, in this step from the bar to the living room, the menu expands: "Since I can choose, I substitute the red Martini for a Ventura 27 from Bodegas Dimobe (from Moclinejo), so I miss the Malaga sun ”, says Lakshmi.

Price

: in the Vermut Shop online store, a 750 ml bottle of this Malaga vermouth costs 12.95 euros.

Ca

cao powder

, 24 Ounce

Although cocoa powder is not a beverage in itself, many people mix it with milk to drink it.

One of them is Luis Alcázar, owner of the Madrid store Black Pepper & Co, who is the one who recommends this product from the company 24 Ounces: “If there is something positive in being confined, it is undoubtedly having breakfast without haste.

And nothing better than a good cup of chocolate from Carmen Capote to start the day well, ”says Luis.

A cocoa powder that 24 Ounces offers flavored with up to six different flavors (which rotate depending on the season).

Price

: on the 24 Ounce page there is a 100 gram envelope at 4.50 euros.

CANNED, CHACINAS AND SURVIVAL PICKLES

Chef Seky Pickles

The president of the food company, Mikel López Iturriaga, affirms that he would lock himself up for any of the pickles from the Valencian company Chef Seky.

“They are perfect for fighting the confined bastard.

They are delicious and out of the ordinary by including vegetables that are not so common in this format: carrot, cauliflower, green pepper, red onion ... They also have variants - a minced mixture of all of the above - ideal to crack a Russian salad of Murcian style with the only effort of putting them together with chopped cooked potatoes, mayonnaise and bonito or tuna ”, says Mikel.

But if he had to keep one of his products, it would be pickled green raf tomatoes: "A discovery that encourages any dish you put them on," he says.

Price

: In Chef Seky's online store, the 400 g jar of pickled raf tomato costs 4.99.

Old-fashioned sardines, by Ortiz

The

super comidister coordinator

Mònica Escudero recommends these sardines from the Ortiz brand because "they are tender and tasty, and they can solve a lot of different situations".

As Mònica advises, “you can take them as an aperitif, with a little pickled garlic on top, black olives, lemon zest and parsley (if you put some raf tomatoes, you already have a salad);

serve them on toast with a handful of arugula and a boiled egg or as a pasta sauce with lots of parsley, garlic, butter and lemon ”.

Faced with such a display of versatility we can only say one thing: long live the sardines in oil!

Price

: the 100 g can is worth 2.81 euros in El Corte Inglés, for example.

Hedgehog caviar, from Agromar

"I give a lot of the can, literally, because I defend that the level of the national side is supreme and guarantees an ace up his sleeve, especially in full confinement," says journalist and gastronomer Carmen Alcaraz del Blanco.

Although she confesses to being a lover of monkfish liver with yuzu ponzu sauce from La Cala Albert Adrià and braised preserves from Güeyu Mar or La Brújula, Carmen keeps the sea urchin caviar from the Gijonese company Agromar: “It's my favorite can because I associate it with happy Sundays and because it is an affordable luxury from time to time ”.

Price

: the 55 g jar of caviar of orices costs 9.20 euros on the Agromar page.

Anchovies, Highness

"Let's see, they are not the ones from Alberto de Santoña's Tavern, but they give the hit and their price is 1.30 euros per can.

A minilujo more than achievable, right? ”Pascual Drake asks rhetorically.

His is a story of love and passion with the white brand anchovies from Lupa supermarkets: “I went to the Cantabrian coast on vacation and took the opportunity to bring from Lupa de Unquera an arsenal of Anchovies Alteza.

Today I still have about 15 or 20 cans left.

If they lock me up again, let it be in the pantry, between 1.30 ”cans of anchovies, Pascual asks the anchovy God.

Price

: on the website of Lupa supermarkets it costs, indeed, 1.29 euros each can.

Bonito del norte, by Seleqtia

The

videocomidister

Jordi Luque commitment at home to guard against any alien attack with three cupboards full of pretty northern SeleQtia signature, the Eroski supermarket: "You fix a sandwich, a salad ,

a salad and pasta.

It is quite juicy and tasty and, they say, can be milled.

In other words, if they lock us up for several years, it will go from a private label to a gourmet product, ”says Jordi while calling NASA's landline in case they've seen something too.

Price

: at Eroski, you can buy the 111 g can for 4.95 euros.

Extra beef jerky, from Bodegas El Capricho

Beyond the canning world, Íñigo Aguirre, from the blog Umami Madrid, delves into the cold meats and recommends a beef jerky: “This jerky made by Bodegas El Capricho in León is spectacular, with a fat infiltration that makes it melt in the mouth and a deeply delicious flavor ”, describes Íñigo.

Price

: on the Bodegas de El Capricho website it is 52.25 euros per kilo.

P

OPURRÍ EDIBLE

DOORS PA 'INSIDE

Bomba rice, by Nomen

The first recommendation of this edible potpourri comes from the hand of

foodie

Jordi Luque: “I am not very fussy about rice, but the pump of the Nomen brand, besides giving me a fantastic result and besides having adapted to it –that's very important in a grain of rice - it turns out that it comes in a cloth bag.

At home we are quite anti-plastic, so 1 + 1 = 2 ”, says Jordi, a specialist in gastronomy and aware of climate change.

Price

: in large stores such as El Corte Inglés, the kilo has an approximate price of 3.75 euros.

Flor de Guía PDO cheese, from Cortijo de Caideros

We fly to the Canary Islands to taste the Cortijo de Caideros brand cheese, made under the Flor de Guía PDO, which has been advised by Javier Suárez, food journalist from Por Fogones, from the digital Canarias Now.

“On the islands we have a multitude of varieties of cheeses, all of them wonderful, but I would choose one in particular for its quality, history and effort: that of the Flor De Guía Denomination of Origin.

And more specifically with the one made by Cristóbal Moreno, the Cortijo de Caideros, awarded for several years as the best cheese in the region ”, says Javier.

Price

: the price per kilo of this cheese is around 18-20 euros, according to Javier.

Gofio, Imendi and La Piña

We are not leaving Guanche territory yet, because if Javier Suárez had to be confined to another product, he would like it to be gofio.

"In my house I would not miss because gofio can be eaten for breakfast with milk, for lunch with a watercress stew, for a snack with banana and cookies or for dinner integrating it into a yogurt," explains this journalist.

And among all the brands that make it, Javier takes the wheat and millet from Imendi, "which is made in La Gomera by hand", and the one from La Piña, which is "more industrial."

Price

: Imendi can be found in some online stores for 1.85 per half kilo;

that of La Piña, in Carrefour is 2.90 per kilo.

Various broths, by Aneto

“In the cold months at home the broth protocol is activated and almost every week we make two pots: one vegetable and the other with chicken, ham and veal.

In case between one time and another we run out and one day we get the soup, I always have a brick of Aneto stored ”, confesses

comidister

Mònica Escudero.

Few things are more helpful than a broth, because as Mònica indicates, the fish and shellfish have also helped her improvise more than one rice, "since they do not have any more or less ingredients than the ones you would put at home" .

Price

: in any supermarket you can find it for an approximate price of 3.50 euros per liter brick.

Sheep yogurt, by Carrefour BIO

Mikel López Iturriaga's life changed when he went from cow yogurt to sheep's yogurt, and that is why now he would not like to get rid of it even if the apocalypse came.

“Without having the name 'Greek', it is the closest thing to real Greek yogurt that I have found in Spain: dense, tasty and ultra creamy.

Taking it as a dessert with cut fruit is already a delight, but I recommend using it profusely in savory dishes ”, says Mikel.

To integrate it into this type of preparation, Mikel advises, for example, “to top any vegetable cream with a tablespoon in the same bowl in which you serve it, or to make with it

tzatziki

(Greek cucumber and garlic spread) or

raita

(sauce Indian with cucumber, coriander, mint and cumin) ”.

Price:

Carrefour sells 420 g of this yogurt for three euros.

CONFINED DRESSINGS

Sriracha sauce, by Huy Fong

This spicy sauce originally from Southeast Asia is the reason why

comidister

Maria Sanahuja would be confined for a few weeks: “

Sriracha

cannot be missing in my house.

I would have liked to have met her on a backpacking adventure in Thailand but the reality is that I met her at the supermarket, looking to give a spicy point to the Huevos Rancheros that I had for breakfast at hangover university.

Tomato, protein, good sriracha and to the ring ”, says Maria.

Price

: in El Corte Inglés you can find a pot of sauce from 355 g to 3.95 euros.

Onion Chutney

Seeni Sambol

, by Brutal

Terrific

Jams

Behind the exotic and mysterious name

Seeni Sambol

there is a “very tasty and versatile” onion chutney, as described by Luis Alcázar.

This seasoning of caramelized and spiced red onion made by the Madrid company Brutal Terrific Jams "will make you travel without leaving your little 30-square-meter apartment," promises Luis, so be careful with the mobility restrictions.

6 euros.

Chili powder, from Tajín

Carmen Alcaraz del Blanco confesses that she is a devotee of this mixture of chili powder, sea salt and dehydrated lemon "that brings joy and highlights the flavors of any preparation".

As a parishioner who is of this product, she knows the thousand and one uses that the tajinera priestesses give it: “You can season the cabbage of a mountain stew, add it to your mortar for almost any flock or to the marinade of a meat, add its brilliance-brilli to a simple roasted potato, sprinkle it on an ice cream lolly or fruit, frost a glass ... and, of course, tune some popcorn on Saturday night ”.

Price

: a bottle of 142 g is sold in Carrefour at 2.75 euros.
