Many celebrities live a lifestyle that also includes observance of certain mitzvos, probably out of a desire to connect with Judaism and the preservation of tradition.
Among the common commandments you can find, for example, putting on tefillin and of course keeping Shabbat.
Actor and singer Idan Amidi, who keeps Shabbat, was asked a number of questions last Saturday night on his Instagram, and provided a variety of answers.
We found interest in one question in particular.
When Amidi was asked what made him start keeping Shabbat, this is what he replied: "Rabbi Lau's book about his experiences from the Holocaust as a child, 'Do not reach for the boy.' "What is our political view and what is the sexual definition. As long as we are Jews, it is enough for them to stand on the other side."
Amadi went on to explain that reading the book changed him on several levels: "This understanding made me a better person and a better Jew and also made me keep Shabbat and adopt two dogs. It came together."
He ended the explanation with a reading recommendation: "A good book, read."
We will add to the list.
