The Film Academy has announced that Ángela Molina will receive the next Goya of Honor, to recognize "the exceptional trajectory of this colleague so loved by all for her authenticity, her undeniable talent and her special sensitivity."

The 65-year-old actress from Madrid thus achieves one of the very few recognitions that she lacked: Gold Medal from the Film Academy, National Film Award 2016, Silver Shell from the San Sebastián festival, David di Donatello award (the Italian Oscar and was the first Spanish to obtain it), Spike of Honor at the Seminci 2012 ... Curiously, she has never won the Goya for her work, despite her five nominations: three as the protagonist, for

La medio del cielo

(which earned her the Concha Silver),

Lights and shadows

and

The things to love,

and two as a supporting actress, for

Tremulous Meat

and

Snow White.

"I have gone through all kinds of days and feelings about not having won it," the actress reminds EL PAÍS after hearing the news.

“At the end of the day, it's nice that this award is in the air.

Like I could get it one day ... [laughs].

Hey, I would be interested like every son of a neighbor who loves his profession.

It also catches me at a time, maybe I'm older, when I feel tanned to receive the Honor.

A race goes little by little, and the prizes fall the same ... And those things do not depend on you, but on others.

And there is the preciousness of the award ”.

It could happen like Antonio Banderas, who first obtained the Honor Award and later won the Best Actor Award.

As the board of directors of the institution underlines, "it has been the protagonist of numerous indispensable titles of Spanish and European cinema".

The award will be received at the ceremony to be held on March 6.

Molina does not want to forget that phrase with which the institution remarks that it is appreciated by many people: “For me, the greatest thing in the world are feelings, and that simple reality is what fills me.

I feel the same for all my colleagues ”.
