Covid-19 in France: more than 400 deaths and 4,000 cases recorded in 24 hours

The number of patients treated in intensive care units continues to drop on Monday, according to the latest authorities' report

While waiting to see the possible impact of the easing of the restrictive measures, the latest report published this Monday evening by Public Health France shows that the improvement continues and that the epidemic decline is confirmed.

On the front of hospitalizations, the latest health report shows 1,257 new admissions recorded in the last 24 hours.

In total, some 28,229 people have so far been hospitalized for a covid infection.

Among them, 3,739 patients suffer from a severe form of the disease, which requires treatment within the intensive care unit.

In the last 24 hours, 196 new admissions have been recorded within these specialized services.

The latest figures released by Public Health France show 408 new deaths recorded in the space of 24 hours, against 198 on Sunday.

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 52,731 people have died from the new coronavirus in the country, including 36,329 in hospitals.

The government is also monitoring the number of new infections, since it has set itself the goal of falling below the threshold of 5,000 daily cases on a weekly average.

This Monday, Public Health France announced 4,005 new contaminations, including 1,522 by antigenic tests.

The test positivity rate now stands at 10.9% against 11.1% on Sunday.
