It is said that anticipation is the greatest joy.
Many couples in love who forge wedding plans and often also plans for the future know that. With George and Amal Clooney, however, getting married was rather unconventional, at least that's what the actor said.
"We never talked about marriage when we were dating," George Clooney told CBS.
“I asked her out of the blue.” But either the bride-to-be hadn't expected that and had to think twice about it - or she wanted to hold off George a bit when she proposed the marriage.
For the 59-year-old, it is clear that his current wife made him fidget for far too long in the situation at the time.
“It was a long time before she said yes.
I knelt for about 20 minutes and finally said, 'Look, I'm twisting my hip here' ".
When they later told the story to his current parents-in-law, they asked him if something was wrong with his hip.
Twin dad Clooney: "Never talked about having children"
In any case, the wait seems to have been worth it for Clooney.
The wedding with the 42-year-old human rights activist meant a lot to him.
“There's no question that having Amal in my life has changed everything for me.” Everything about her was suddenly infinitely more important to him than he was himself. In 2014 the two married lavishly in Venice.
George Clooney evidently approached other things in life as well.
“We never talked about having children,” Clooney recalls.
Then they would just have taken it on and one day went to see the doctor for an ultrasound.
He first told them that there was a boy on the way and then that there was a second child.
That moment apparently made an impression on Clooney.
“I was ready for one.

And suddenly there are two. "
Meanwhile, according to Clooney, he is happy that the two three-year-old twins Alexander and Ella have each other.
The time with the children is very fulfilling.
At the end of the year, Clooney should be seen in a new role on Netflix - in the science fiction flick "The Midnight Sky".
