In the home office, the additional costs for heating, light and electricity increase.

A consumer portal calculates the expenses employees have to expect.

Those who work from home also consume more electricity, water or gas.

The federal government is currently planning to relieve workers in the home office with a tax lump sum of 5 euros per day *.

But is that really enough - or is the tax relief really just a drop in the ocean?

The consumer portal Verivox has

calculated

how much

additional costs

actually arise from home office:

up to 250 euros per year

should be added per household.

According to the financial experts, the additional costs are made up as follows:

  • Workplace with a computer: an

    impressive

    54 euros per year

for a laptop with an extra monitor and an average power consumption of 180 kilowatt hours.

  • Heating costs for the study:

A heated study with 20 square meters

    costs

    around

     144 euros

     more.

  • Charging costs for the mobile phone: Charging

once a day only means a small surcharge of less than

    1 euro

    per year.

  • Light:

The lighting is also reflected in the additional costs.

An average of 16 kilowatt hours of electricity corresponds to just under

    5 euros

     per year.

  • Lunch:

Instead of the canteen, cooking at home is the order of the day.

The costs for this vary widely, but can add up to around 165 kilowatt hours -

     an extra

     50 euros

    per year

    .

  • Coffee and tea:

Depending on your preferences, the costs vary greatly here.

The model calculation assumes an additional 26 kilowatt hours, which means just under

    8 euros

    per year.

Additional costs in the home office: It gets expensive in winter

Anyone who works completely from home in the

winter months

from October to March can expect a total of four percent more heating costs.

Depending on the heating system, this means additional costs of

up to 45 euros.

This is reported by the German Press Agency (dpa) and is referring to a further investigation by the consumer portal.

With

oil heating

, employees have to

plan for

an increase of around

33 euros

.
