Those who work from home also consume more electricity, water or gas.
The federal government is currently planning to relieve workers in the home office with a tax lump sum of 5 euros per day *.
But is that really enough - or is the tax relief really just a drop in the ocean?
The consumer portal Verivox has
calculated
how much
additional costs
actually arise from home office:

should be added per household.
According to the financial experts, the additional costs are made up as follows:
Workplace with a computer: an
impressive
54 euros per year
for a laptop with an extra monitor and an average power consumption of 180 kilowatt hours.
Heating costs for the study:
A heated study with 20 square meters
costs
around
144 euros
more.
Charging costs for the mobile phone: Charging
once a day only means a small surcharge of less than
1 euro
per year.
Light:
The lighting is also reflected in the additional costs.
An average of 16 kilowatt hours of electricity corresponds to just under
5 euros
per year.
Lunch:
Instead of the canteen, cooking at home is the order of the day.
The costs for this vary widely, but can add up to around 165 kilowatt hours -
an extra

Coffee and tea:
Depending on your preferences, the costs vary greatly here.
The model calculation assumes an additional 26 kilowatt hours, which means just under
8 euros
per year.
Additional costs in the home office: It gets expensive in winter
Anyone who works completely from home in the
winter months
from October to March can expect a total of four percent more heating costs.
Depending on the heating system, this means additional costs of
up to 45 euros.
