(ANSA) - ROME, 01 DEC - A worsening of the weather conditions is expected in the next few hours due to a low pressure area arriving from northern Europe towards the central Mediterranean.
At first the bad weather will affect the north-west and then move, tomorrow, to the rest of northern and central Italy.
The simultaneous decrease in temperatures will lead to snowfall down to low altitudes in the northern regions.
The Department of Civil Protection has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions.
which foresees snowfalls in Piedmont, Liguria and Emilia-Romagna from late afternoon today, initially above 400-600 meters, inextension, during the night in Lombardy and Veneto;
lowering snow days, up to 200-300 meters, in the southern areas of Piedmont and Lombardy and the Ligurian hinterland, up to lowland waters in western Emilia-Romagna, with weak to moderate contributions to the soil in the plains, up to abundant hilly waters.
Furthermore, strong winds with gale force gusts are expected from the eastern quadrants on Emilia-Romagna and from the northern ones on Liguria, with possible storm surges along the exposed coast.
From the early hours of tomorrow, scattered to diffuse rainfall is expected, including backfalls or thunderstorms, on Lazio, extending to Campania and western sectors of Abruzzo and Molise, these phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.
On the basis of the expected and ongoing phenomena, an orange alert was assessed for tomorrow, Wednesday 2 December, on most of Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Campania.
Yellow alert on the remaining sectors of the four regions, on Umbria, on part of Basilicata and Sicily.
