As the last month of this year marked by an unprecedented epidemic has just begun, Public Health France (SPF) has counted 365 new deaths linked to the coronavirus in hospital on Tuesday in the past 24 hours.

There are now 53,506 deaths due to contamination, including 36,692 in hospital, since March.

The organization has also reported 8,083 new Covid-19 contaminations since Monday (6,201 cases confirmed by RT-PCR and 1,882 cases confirmed by antigen test), for a test positivity rate of 10.8%.

27,611 people still hospitalized

In addition, 27,611 patients are currently hospitalized following an infection, according to data from SPF.

Hospitals have counted 1,572 new admissions in the past 24 hours, including 234 in intensive care.

A total of 3,594 patients are currently being cared for in an intensive care unit.

3,240 clusters were under investigation on December 1, including 1,422 in nursing homes, adds SPF.

This new assessment comes as this Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron and Jean Castex clarified the contours of the French vaccination policy against Covid-19 for 2021. They are considering mass vaccination for the general public “between April and June”, after a first wave reserved for the most vulnerable groups, especially in nursing homes.
