(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 1 - A 100 million euro Covid hospital has been inaugurated in the Madrid region but the doctors and nurses unions are already in revolt and report a lack of staff.
The Spanish media reported it.
The president of the region Isabel Díaz Ayuso was greeted by a crowd of demonstrators holding up placards reading "Basta" and "hospitals for politicians".
The facility, built in three months near Madrid airport and costing double what was announced, was named after Isabel Zendaia, an 18th-century nurse who pioneered pro-vaccine campaigns. When fully operational it will have a capacity of 1,056 beds, including 48 intensive care places. At the moment there are available240 and intensive care. It will take nearly 700 doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians to make it work.
