(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 02 - The French driver of the Haas team Romain Grosjean left the military hospital in Manama this morning, where he was recovering from the burns suffered during his terrible accident last Sunday at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean was able to leave the hospital "at 10:30 local time" (08:30 Italian time), the American team Haas announced, specifying that the Franco-Swiss driver would have been subjected to "private treatment for his burns to his back and hands and will remain in Bahrain for now. "

The 34-year-old driver reassured his health on Tuesday on his Instagram account: "I'm getting better and better, I'm happy to be alive and talking to you."

Grosjean's car, which went off the track due to a collision immediately after the start of Sunday's race, was broken in half and caught fire after crashing into the safety barriers at 220 km / h.

The pilot was able to abandon his car 28 seconds after the collision and got away from the fire, helped by the GP of the GP, before being taken by ambulance to the circuit care center and then hospital by helicopter.

Next weekend at the Shahir Grand Prix, on the same circuit, he will be replaced by the test and reserve driver of the American Haas team, the Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi.

Grosjean hopes to return for the last Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi on December 13, which could also be his last F1 GP, as the Frenchman has not found a place in the Circus for next season.
