From Israel in Love:
A medical delegation from Sheba Hospital will leave tomorrow (Wednesday) for the province of Piedmont in northwestern Italy, to help the medical staff there fight the corona plague.
The delegation, led by Prof. Elhanan Bar-On of the Center for Humanitarian Aid in Disasters and Emergencies, has 21 volunteer medical staff and will stay in the district for about two weeks with the main goal of reinforcing medical staff in the city of Vardono.
The request for Israeli assistance was forwarded by Alberto Chirio, president of the Piedmont province, to the Israeli ambassador to Italy, Dror Eder, in light of a dramatic increase in the number of infected and a shortage of doctors and medical equipment in the province.
The local Ministry of Health contacted the Ministry of Health in Israel and the heads of Sheba, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Israel's ambassador to Italy, Dror Eder, said that "the State of Israel helps its friends in times of need; this is also part of our historic mission." Prof. Elhanan Bar-On, director of the Sheba Center for Humanitarian Aid, Disasters and Emergencies, said that "we will work shoulder to shoulder with local medical teams in Italy to save lives."
