A manufacturer of spreads reacts to a find in two products with a recall.
Potentially dangerous residues were found.
A
recall
for Sanchon products applies to all of Germany.
Two organic
spreads
are affected.
Residues of a potentially harmful chemical were found.
Steinheim - These products should no longer be smeared on bread.
Because what was found in it is dangerous for health.
Two
Sanchon
brand
spreads
have been withdrawn from circulation.
The recall applies to the products:
Spread
chickpea chili
, 180g, batch 38813
Spread
chickpea ginger
, 180g, batch 38814

The company from Steinheim in North Rhine-Westphalia announces that only these batches are affected and in both cases only the
best before date of June 2022
.
The spreads are offered in a glass with both information on the edge of the lid.
The recall applies to
all federal states
.
Sanchon's organic food is sold both in retail stores and online.
Recall of spread because of pesticides
It is a recall for reasons of preventive consumer protection, as a
health risk
cannot be ruled out.
Consumption of the products is not recommended.
During examinations of the spreads that the producer carried out, residues of ethylene oxide were found.
Ethylene oxide
is a
pesticide
that is considered carcinogenic.
In principle, acute symptoms of intoxication are also possible with increasing doses.
The agent also has numerous applications for use as a
disinfectant
.

Customers can return products after calling back
In the event of a recall, the customer can turn the purchased product to the store where he purchased the item.
The manufacturer also points this out in this case.
Anyone who has bought one of the spreads will
get
the
purchase price
reimbursed
when they are
returned
.
This type of contamination is not one of the most common causes of recalls in Germany, but it is also not uncommon.
Controls of the goods produced take place regularly within the framework of food safety.
Other foods were also recently withdrawn from circulation.
So there was a recall for cheese and a recall for caviar from Aldi.
