only 6% of companies declare that they want to return to pre-existing conditions without smart working.

It emerges from the third edition of the “Future of Work 2020” survey aimed at the personnel management of large Italian companies, carried out by the Osservatorio Imprese Lavoro Inaz and Business International.

60% of companies indicate smart working as the most urgent initiative to invest in as regards the management of human resources and 67% put digitization at the top of their priority list.

«In all the changes that have overwhelmed companies this year, the centrality of the human factor has been confirmed - points out Linda Gilli, president and CEO of Inaz -.

The research undoubtedly photographs a situation in the making, in which sometimes contradictory trends emerge, but one thing is very clear:

the experiences made in 2020 will leave a profound trace, above all remote work

.

To transform the latter into true smart working, on the one hand, it is necessary to continue on the path of digitization, but on the other, we must never lose sight of the company's role as a place for socializing and aggregation ".

Innovating work organization models is indicated by 69% of companies as the priority objective in the field of Human Resources (HR) within three years, with an increase of 5 percentage points compared to 2019. Among the skills on which the function HR feels it needs to improve, training and development of new skills stand out (55% of answers, + 10% compared to last year).

A series of questions introduced in this latest edition of the research aims instead to investigate how the effects of the pandemic are modifying

the future prospects of the organization of work

.

It therefore emerges that, as far as remote work is concerned, 78% of companies declare that the experience was positive during the emergency, but

requires planning

;

56% of HR Managers highlighted the increase in motivation and sense of responsibility of collaborators.

As for the concrete prospects for the future, always in the field of smart working, just under two out of three companies will change the previous modus operandi, either by systematically implementing smart working (43%) or by increasing smart working practices already in place (18%).

Of the remaining ones, only 6% will return to pre-existing conditions without smart working, 3% will confirm the already consolidated smart working policies and 31% declare that they are still within the decision-making process on possible changes.

In detail, with regard to

the mix between on-site work and remote work on a weekly basis

, for 35% of the companies surveyed, delocalized work will, in different proportions, still prevail over on-site work.

l 39% of companies expected more prudently two days instead of five working smart

.

Finally, another 13% is focusing on a single day of provision of work in a place other than the company headquarters.


As for the critical issues of smart working, the aspect on which the responses are most concentrated (1 out of 5) is that of leadership, followed by the risk of a decrease not so much in performance, but in the sense of belonging of collaborators (18% of answers).
