Spotify: Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish most streamed artists of the year

Latin music, home office playlists and podcasts about meditation: Spotify's annual review shows what has accompanied 320 million people through the year.

Also in 2020 the most streamed artist worldwide: Billie Eilish.

It was a year like none before, but Billie Eilish was able to hold on: For the second year in a row, the 18-year-old is the most streamed artist worldwide at the music streaming market leader Spotify.

She is followed by Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa.

Number one for men and generally international is the Latin trap and reggaeton singer Bad Bunny from Puerto Rico.

He collected more than 8.3 billion streams, as from the Spotify annual review "Wrapped" emerges.

With his record »YHLQMDLG« he also delivered the most streamed album of 2020 with around 3.3 billion streams. Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and The Weeknd follow in the next places.

Capital Bra and Loredana ahead in Germany

In Germany, for the second time in a row, rapper Capital Bra reached number one of the nationwide most streamed artists.

The rappers Apache 207 and Samra take second and third place in the overall ranking.

Apache 207 secured first place in the albums with his record "Staircase".

The most streamed musician on Spotify in Germany is the Swiss rapper Loredana, followed by the singer-songwriter Lea and Billie Eilish.

The most streamed song in Germany and internationally was "Blinding Lights" by the Canadian musician The Weeknd.

Gardening and meditation

The year of the lockdowns left its mark: Spotify users gave their playlists names that had to do with home office, gardening, haircutting and cleaning.

Podcasts about wellness and meditation have gained popularity worldwide.

More young people than before have heard podcasts, Spotify evaluated.

In Germany this again benefited the comedians Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt, who landed at number one with their series “Mixed Hack”.

Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz follow in second place with “Fest & Flauschig”, and third place of the most popular podcasts on Spotify is the daily format “Tagesschau in 100 seconds”.
