Thomas Shelby, the famous Birmingham gangster, and his family decided to branch out into Bordeaux wines.

series
, broadcast on Arte and Netflix, Thibault Bardet, owner of the Val D'or, Pontet-Fumet, Franc Le Maine and Paradis castles in Saint-Emilion, is impatiently awaiting season 6 of the series.
“I imagined the Shelby family continued to move up the social ladder. At first, they drank beer, then they switched to whiskey and gin and inevitably they would like to have Bordeaux wines at their table one day like the British aristocracy of the 1930s ”,
explains Thibault Bardet.
He wrote to the series producer, Shine Endemol (acquired by Banijay), to create The Shelby Company branded wines.
“I also wanted to pay tribute to my family, to my great-grandfather, Jean Roy, winegrower in the 1920s, but also to my family of winegrowers and barge workers in Saint-Émilion since 1704. She transported the wine to in Bordeaux as the Shelbys transported contraband on the Birmingham canals. "

Shine Endemol immediately accepted because he wanted to extend his marketing to the world of wine.
Thibault Bardet therefore vinified two cuvées (a Saint-Émilion and a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru) as Jean Roy did, in concrete vats.
“With production, we worked on every detail in order to stick to the series and its era.
I designed labels with Anne-Lise Bertrand to reproduce those of the merchants who bottled the wines. ”
