(ANSA) - ROME, 02 DEC - "Remembering the heroes, those who have made our country great, but also those women who have not pulled back and have contributed with their sensocivico to give a strong contribution to a historical moment".
This is how Donatella Finocchiaro talks about the docufiction 'I, a popular judge at the Maxiprocesso', on Rai1 in prime time Thursday, December 3 (for Stand by me in collaboration with Rai Fiction), directed by Francesco Micchichè who chooses to change perspective, putting at the center of the story a of the popular jurors who contributed to the historic convictions with which the Palermo trial against the mafia ended: not a famous person, therefore, but an ordinary person.
Caterina, played by Finocchiaro, summarizes in the docufiction the point of view of the three popular jurors TeresaCerniglia, Maddalena Cucchiara and Francesca Vitale.
The docufiction also makes use of unique interviews with the protagonists of the time - from the prosecutor Giuseppe Ayala to the President of the Court Alfonso Giordano, played by NinoFrassica, passing through the adjudicator Pietro Grasso.
Maria Pia Ammirati highlighted: "The Palermo Maxi-trial represented the point of arrival and, as Giovanni Falcone said, the starting point of the State against CosaNostra. Rai maintains the primacy of memories and civil commitment with this docufiction which is also a great narration: we preferred to point to another choice, to show what happened from the point of view of normality. Remembering and documenting events and people who are part of the history of the Republic and constitute hubs of democracy, civil life and a sense of responsibility, are a duty of the public service that Rai has fully carried out first in recording the Maxi process and then, today, in reconstructing those times with this docufiction. The period films included were provided by Rai (Rai Teche and Rai Sicilia, which digitalized and preserves full shot of the Maxiprocesso); the photos and newspaper headlines shown are part of the L'Ora di Palermo archive.
