'Ndrangheta: Scott reborn, 355 indictments

(ANSA) - CATANZARO, 03 DEC - The 355 defendants who opted for the ordinary rite in the "Rinascita-Scott" maxi-trial, instructed by the Dda of Catanzaro, directed by Nicola Gratteri, against the cosche di 'Ndrangheta del Vibonese and their associates, including exponents of the political world and business.


    The maxi-trial will begin on January 13 in front of the Vibo Valentia court in the bunker hall set up in the industrial center of Lamezia Terme, which will soon be completed.

For them the trial will begin in Lamezia on January 27th.


    The defendants sent for trial will be joined by the positions of the lawyer and former parliamentarian Giancarlo Pittelli, the entrepreneur Mario Lo Riggio, the former mayor of Nicotera Salvatore Rizzo and the lawyer Giulio Calabretta, who have requested immediate judgment.

The former regional councilor Nicola Adamo, accused of trafficking of illicit influences, was also sent to trial, among others.


    Among the defendants there is also the former regional councilor Luigi Incarnato, and the former mayor of Pizzo, Gianluca Callipo.


    The defendants will have to answer, in various capacities, for over 400 charges, including mafia association, external competition in mafia association, attempted murder, murder, extortion, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, receiving stolen goods, trafficking in illicit influences, disclosure and use of professional secrecy, aggravated office abuse and drug trafficking.
