The French laboratory is working on two vaccine projects, the one developed with the British GSK being the most advanced.

The Sanofi-GSK vaccine against Covid-19 will be sold for less than ten euros.

It was the vice-president of the vaccines branch of the French laboratory Sanofi, Thomas Triomphe, who announced this Thursday morning, during a round table organized by the magazine Challenges.

Sanofi is currently developing two types of vaccines against Covid-19 and has committed to producing one billion doses in 2021. The most advanced project, with its British partner GSK, is currently in phase 2 of clinical trials, and the last phase on humans should be launched in the coming weeks.

The issue of accessibility is "at the top of our priorities, just after the safety and efficacy of the product," commented Thomas Triomphe Thursday morning.

Sanofi wants to offer its vaccine "from the start with high accessibility, therefore an ability to be paid for by all the different economic players", he insisted.

200 million doses promised to developing countries

"A vaccine against Covid-19 from day one will cost much less than a pack of cigarettes", assured Thomas Triomphe.

This price, "less than ten euros" for developed countries, "will be communicated when we have the results of phase 1, phase 2, since we need the finalization of the dose used to be able to go to phase 3", he explained.

Like others, Sanofi is also working with the Covax system, intended to supply developing countries with vaccines.

“We have committed to providing more than 200 million doses to the Covax device.

This will be with a specific and preferential price for countries around the world to be able to ensure that all continents around the world can have access to vaccination, ”said its vice-president.

The prices of the different candidate vaccines against Covid-19 are not all known.

Britain's AstraZeneca, which works with the University of Oxford, has already announced that it will provide its vaccine at cost price, around 2.50 euros per dose.

The American Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech have mentioned the price of 40 dollars per treatment.
