The corona pandemic is causing production houses to take drastic steps.
Now several upcoming blockbusters are to appear on a streaming service.
Film fans can look forward to several blockbusters starting in 2021.
Due to the difficult
Corona situation
, the coming cinema year will probably not be very successful.
In many countries, as well as in this country, the halls are closed for further weeks.
Where a visit to the cinema is possible, many potential viewers avoid the facilities in order to minimize the risk of infection.
Production houses that have planned major cinema premieres are therefore plunging the current situation into a dilemma.
For fear of financial loss, many have therefore decided to publish on streaming services.
For example,
“Mulan”
started on Disney + in 2020 *.
The sequel to the comedy hit "The Prince of Zamunda" is expected to
appear
on
Prime Video
in January 2021
.
Now Warner Bros. has announced that a total of
17 upcoming film
hits will also land on a single streaming service.
Among them are
"Matrix 4"
, the
"Dune" remake
and the new
"Suicide Squad" movie
.
Cinema year 2021: 17 films with simultaneous streaming premieres
This news should be a real shock for cinema operators.
Nevertheless, there is at least one bright spot: Warner Bros. does not want to cancel the cinema premieres completely.
Instead,
“Matrix 4”
,
“Dune”
and 15 other films appear in parallel on the big screen and on the American streaming service
HBO Max
.
After 31 days, the blockbusters are to be removed from the platform and instead continue to run in the cinema, reports Variety, among others.
CEO and WarnerMedia chairman Ann Sarnoff makes it clear that simultaneous premieres will
only be
an issue
in 2021
.
“Nobody wants to see films on the big screen as much as we do.
We know that new content is vital to cinemas.
Nevertheless, we have to face the reality that most American cinemas will reduce the number of seats throughout the coming year, ”she explains in a statement.
This year the first parallel streaming and cinema debut will take place:
“Wonder Woman 1984”
starts in December 2020 on the big screen and on
HBO Max
.
The following films will also be available in the cinema and on the streaming service in the course of 2021:

Kong "

Streaming premieres on HBO Max: There is a catch for German film fans
This Warner Bros. decision is significant to the American film audience.
Since
HBO Max
is not available in Germany, the streaming debuts in this country are flat.
At the same time, the cinemas
will be
closed
until
January 10, 2021
.
Should this period be extended, it is conceivable that the film premieres
will take place
on other streaming services such as
Netflix
or
Prime Video
.
It remains to be seen whether this will happen.
